President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has authorized a salary increase for members of Nigeria’s armed forces.

This was announced today 6/12/24 by Bello Matawalle, Minister of State for Defence, in a statement issued by the ministry’s spokesperson, Henshaw Ogubike.

The government also approved the payment of three months’ salary arrears and released funds to settle outstanding pensions and entitlements owed to retired military personnel.

The minister announced that military personnel have begun receiving alerts for the three-month salary increase, marking a significant morale boost for the armed forces.

He praised President Tinubu’s steadfast dedication to the welfare of both active and retired military members, stressing that clearing pension arrears for retirees remains a top priority.

“Despite earlier challenges, rest assured that the President is committed to doing everything possible to strengthen our military as they tackle insecurity,” he said.
