Tension Rises in Kano as Heavily Armed Security Forces Take Over Emir Sanusi’s Palace

0

Heavily armed police officers and State Security Service (SSS) operatives have cordoned off the Kano Emir’s Palace at Kofar Kudu, blocking all entry and exit from the area.

The security deployment followed Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II’s efforts to appoint his newly chosen Wamban Kano, the District Head of Bichi.

A reporter has learned that Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II is set to accompany the newly appointed Wamban Kano, Munir Sanusi, to his official district assignment in Bichi.

Reliable sources have also confirmed that the Bichi Emir’s Palace is heavily secured, with armed police personnel stationed at the location.

Two weeks ago, APC National Chairman Dr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, during his visit to Bichi, reaffirmed the legitimacy of the Bichi Emirate Council and confirmed Emir Nasiru Ado Bayero as the rightful emir.

Meanwhile, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, acting on the recently passed Kano Emirate Council Law, annulled the positions of the five emirs, stripping them of their chiefdoms.

However, just a few days later, the same government appointed three second-class emirs, leaving Bichi out and making it a district head’s jurisdiction.
