Martins Moye, the Edo State Controller of the Nigeria Immigration Service, has expressed concern over the growing influx of irregular migrants into Nigeria.
He highlighted this issue during the 2024 Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) awareness campaign against irregular migration in Benin, the capital of Edo State.
He emphasized the importance of public awareness in addressing irregular migration. David Amanahu, a facilitator from the NIS headquarters in Abuja, pointed out Edo State’s historical involvement in irregular migration.
He noted that recent efforts by the Edo State Command have led to improvements in the state’s national ranking on irregular migration. “The good news is that Edo State is no longer ranked first in irregular migration,” he said.
Amanahu expressed gratitude to the committed team in Edo for their relentless efforts in improving the situation.
While conveying a message from the Controller-General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap, he highlighted that the NIS is now placing even greater emphasis on border management and migration matters.
