Chinese Military Seeks to Partner With the Nigerian Army on Training and Education Initiatives.

The Chinese People’s Liberation Army Defence University (PLA) has expressed interest in strengthening cooperation with the Nigerian Army to enhance mutual understanding in military training and education.

This was revealed in a statement by Maj.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, on Friday in Abuja, following a meeting between the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, and a PLA delegation led by Rear Adm. Hu GangFeng.

The delegation included representatives from various departments of the theatre command, military services, and course participants involved in the relationship.

In his response, Lt.-Gen. Oluyede, represented by Maj.-Gen. Musa Etsu-Ndagi, the Deputy Chief of Training (Army), highlighted the Nigerian Army’s expertise in countering terrorism and insurgency.

He stressed the significance and effectiveness of customizing operations to tackle specific security challenges.

He  also stated that continuous training, proper equipping, and adaptive operational strategies have improved the Nigerian Army’s effectiveness in the ongoing battle against terrorism and insurgency in the country.

Lastly, he mentioned that these efforts have allowed the troops to significantly weaken the terrorists and reduce the threat of terrorism.
