Reporter has gathered that two Nigerian workers on the Lagos Blue Line rail project were assaulted by a soldier following orders from a Chinese national.

The Chinese man, reportedly an expatriate with the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), which is handling the Lagos electric rapid transit line project, allegedly ordered the assault.

Witnesses stated that the incident occurred on Friday at the Abule Ado section of the construction site, where a soldier carried out the attack on his directive.

The incident is reportedly the third involving Nigerian workers with CCECC in the past month.

According to a source, the two men had attempted to ride in the back cabin of the company’s Toyota Hilux after work hours.

This act angered the Chinese national, who allegedly instructed a soldier assigned to him to “punish them severely to his satisfaction.”

A witness to the incident stated, “Around 5:30 PM yesterday, after work, the two workers tried to ride in the back of the Hilux, while the Chinese man was inside. Upon seeing them attempt to climb onto the vehicle, he ordered the soldier accompanying him to assault the workers.”
