OPEC has Appointed Nigeria’s Ademola Adeyemi-Bero as the Chairman of its Board of Governors for 2025

The Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) has named Ademola Adeyemi-Bero as the Chairman of its Board of Governors for 2025 during the 189th OPEC Conference.

Adeyemi-Bero with over 38 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, has serves as the CEO of FIRST Exploration & Petroleum Development Company Limited (FIRST E&P), a Nigerian independent oil firm.

Before his appointment as Chairman of the OPEC Board of Governors, Adeyemi-Bero had already been confirmed as Nigeria’s OPEC governor for 2025.

“This prestigious position reflects Nigeria’s significant role within OPEC and its dedication to influencing global energy policies,” the statement noted. Lokpobiri praised Adeyemi-Bero’s appointment as a recognition of Nigeria’s active contributions to the global oil sector.

Lokpobiri highlighted that the appointment offers Nigeria a crucial platform to promote balanced energy policies that serve the interests of oil producers, consumers, and the global economy.

The minister also expressed deep appreciation to Mr. Gabriel Aduda, the outgoing Nigerian OPEC Governor, praising his outstanding service. He acknowledged Aduda’s significant contributions to advancing Nigeria’s interests within OPEC and maintaining the country’s strong presence in global energy dialogues.

The statement also announced the appointment of Adeeb Al-Aama, Saudi Arabia’s OPEC Governor, as the Alternate Chairman of the Board of Governors for 2025.

It emphasized that the OPEC Conference convened representatives from member countries to discuss key topics, including reports from the Secretary-General and the Economic Commission Board (ECB), as well as to address important internal matters.
