Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State announced on Wednesday plans to implement a minimum wage of N85,000 for workers.
He revealed this during an interview on Channels TV, titled “One-On-One with Babajide Sanwo-Olu.”
In his statement, he said, “You brought up the topic of minimum wage, and I’m pleased to inform you that the agreed minimum wage for Lagos, as discussed with the union, is now N85,000.”
It’s not a competition, so I won’t claim that we’re paying more than others; it’s based on affordability and capacity,” the governor stated.
This announcement follows the federal government’s decision to set the new minimum wage for workers at N70,000.
