Nollywood actress Wumi Toriola has surpassed Toyin Abraham’s box office record, just days after being named the 2024 box office champion.

The actress received this recognition from the Federal Government through the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB).

Toriola achieved the feat with her latest movie, Queen Lateefah, which has quickly become one of the highest-grossing Nigerian films of all time.

Since its release in September, the film has earned N350 million in only two months, surpassing Abraham’s Malaika, which grossed N302 million.

This milestone has positioned Queen Lateefah among the top seven highest-grossing films in Nollywood history. The movie is now set to compete with the records held by Funke Akindele’s A Tribe Called Judah and Battle On Buka Street.

In response to the achievement, Wumi Toriola shared her excitement on Instagram, saying: “Number 7! Queen Lateefah is still waxing strong and shining bright! Grossing 350M and 7th Highest Grossing Nollywood Title of All Time. Big thank you to everyone.”
