Veteran Yoruba actress Yetunde Wunmi, 64, shared the sacrifices she made for her acting career during an interview with BBC Yoruba.
She revealed that she began her journey as a stage performer in 1982 with Sunday Akinola’s ‘Feyi Kogbon’ theatre group.
Reflecting on her nearly 40 years in the industry, Yetunde Wunmi disclosed that her marriage ended because of her deep commitment to acting.
I will never forget Adelove. He brought stage drama to Danjuma film, which was near where I lived at the time. He arrived dressed in all white and in a white car.
Everyone rushed to him, and I went closer just to touch his clothes. It made me so happy; it felt like I had touched something precious. That moment sparked my interest in theatre.
I lost my marriage because of my passion for acting, but I have no regrets about becoming an actress. God has been kind to me ever since.”
