Activist and social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, has revealed the reason he will not accept to an invitation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) regarding a corruption allegation made against the agency’s officials.
The report has it that VeryDarkMan shared a video featuring an audio recording allegedly of social media personality Bobrisky, in which Bobrisky claimed he was asked to pay N15 million to have a money laundering charge dismissed.
In response, the EFCC sent a letter inviting both VeryDarkMan and Bobrisky to its Lagos office to help investigators investigate the bribery allegation.
On Wednesday, VeryDarkMan stated that he would not be honoring the EFCC’s invitation to Lagos, citing that he does not live there and is uncertain about his safety if he goes. Instead, he requested that the anti-graft agency invite them to their Abuja office.
He also criticized the EFCC for not ensuring Bobrisky’s imprisonment. VeryDarkMan urged the agency to first thoroughly investigate its officers, particularly those who handled Bobrisky’s case, before inviting him for questioning.
“You are asking me to come to Lagos, while the EFCC headquarters is in Abuja; it doesn’t make sense. You should call Bobrisky to Abuja and carry out your investigation there.
Lastly, the reason I won’t go to Lagos is that I don’t have N15 million to pay for anything. I have no godfathers, and I don’t want to be framed. I don’t trust you, so I’m not going (to Lagos),” he concluded.
