President Bola Tinubu has congratulated John Mahama on his inauguration as Ghana’s president, pledging Nigeria’s support for the West African nation.

Mahama was sworn in on Tuesday in Accra, marking his return to leadership after previously serving as Ghana’s president.

Tinubu, who attended the event alongside other world leaders, highlighted his friendship with Mahama and assured Nigeria’s support for Ghana.

President John Mahama and I have a close friendship. My brother, I am here to collaborate with you,” Tinubu said as a special guest at the event.

“You can always rely on Nigeria’s support and goodwill whenever necessary. We are your brothers and sisters, united by an unbreakable bond.”

Mahama, who previously served as Ghana’s president from 2012 to early 2017, made a triumphant return to power after defeating Mahamudu Bawumia of the former ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He secured over 50% of the votes, a milestone Tinubu highlighted as evidence of the growing strength of democracy in Africa.
