Tinubu Appoints Chairman and Five Executive Directors for the South East Development Commission

President Bola Tinubu has reshuffled the leadership of the South East Development Commission (SEDC), replacing Hon. Emeka Atuma as Chairman with Dr. Emeka Nworgu.

According to a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the President also replaced all three initially nominated executive directors and added two more.

Additionally, Donatus Nwankpa was removed from the board, while Hon. Mark Okoye retained his role as the Commission’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer. The restructured board now has 16 members, an increase from the original composition.

Stanley Ohajuruka has been appointed as the new Executive Director for Finance, replacing Anthony Ugbo from the initial list.

Toby Okechukwu now serves as the Executive Director of Projects, taking over from Obinna Obiekweihe, while Chief Sylvester Okonkwo has been named Executive Director of Corporate Services, succeeding Dr. Daniel Ugwuja.

The two additional executive directors without specific portfolios are Chidi Echeazu and Dr. Clifford Ogbede.

President Tinubu also retained several board members, including Mr. Ugochukwu Agballah, Hon. Okey Ezenwa, Chief Hyacinth Ikpor, Mr. Ifeanyi Agwu, Nasiru Usman, and Hamma Kumo.

Other retained nominees include Edward Onoja, Orure Inima, and Chief Joke Adebayo-Chukwuma.

All nominations are pending Senate confirmation.

President Tinubu has called on the new appointees, as the Commission’s pioneers, to leverage their experience and expertise to fulfill its mandate and drive development in the South East region.
