President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has named Mr. Shamseldeen Babatunde Ogunjimi as the Acting Accountant General of the Federation (AGF).

According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the appointment is effective immediately, as the current AGF, Dr. (Mrs.) Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein, begins her pre-retirement leave.

This move aims to facilitate a smooth transition within the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) while strengthening the administration’s ongoing treasury policy reforms.

Ogunjimi, a seasoned civil servant and the most senior director at the OAGF, brings more than three decades of expertise in financial management across the public and private sectors. His previous roles include serving as Director of Funds at the OAGF and Director of Finance and Accounts at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Reacting to the appointment, President Tinubu expressed confidence in Ogunjimi’s ability to enhance Nigeria’s treasury operations.

He remarked, “The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation plays a crucial role in our nation’s treasury management. Mr. Ogunjimi’s extensive experience and proven competence will guarantee the ongoing success of this key institution as we push forward with our economic reform agenda.”

The President also praised the outgoing Accountant General, Dr. Madein, for her commitment and exemplary service to Nigeria.

Dr. Madein, scheduled to retire on March 7, 2025, has attained the mandatory retirement age in the civil service.
