The Kano State Government has obtained a project from the French Embassy to empower 1,500 youths through agricultural development programs aimed at boosting the state’s economy.
The Commissioner for Higher Education, Dr. Yusuf Kofarmata, revealed this after presenting his ministry’s budget to the State House of Assembly.
He stated that the initiative is focused on enhancing the state’s economy by equipping young people with training and resources in different agricultural fields.
The program aims to provide participants with essential skills to excel in agriculture while promoting food security and economic growth,” the commissioner stated.
He also announced that the government had allocated N100 million for the accreditation of courses at the Audu Bako College of Agricultural Development (ABCOAD) in Danbatta.
Kofarmata further noted that several projects initiated during former Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso’s administration, which had been abandoned for years, are now nearing completion.
He mentioned that these projects include significant developments at North-West University and Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil.
Kofarmata highlighted the reconstruction of the burnt female hostel at Aliko Dangote University and the completion of Humanities and Science facilities at North-West University as notable achievements.
He reiterated the state government’s dedication to enhancing infrastructure, building human capacity, and introducing new accredited courses across state-owned institutions.
These initiatives are in line with the administration’s declaration of a state of emergency in the education sector,” Kofarmata stated.
He applauded Governor Abba Kabir-Yusuf for dedicating one-third of the state’s budget to education and praised the State House of Assembly for upholding accountability during the 2025 budget review process.
