Nollywood actress and filmmaker Ruth Kadiri has criticized producers who demand that actors generate one million views on the first day of a movie’s release on YouTube.
Dubbed the ‘Queen of YouTube Nollywood,’ Kadiri advised actors not to succumb to pressure from producers to achieve high view counts. She emphasized that one million views should not be considered the benchmark for a movie’s success.
On her Instagram page, she wrote, “Dear Nollywood actors, stop putting unnecessary pressure on yourselves. If a producer expects you to deliver one million views in a day, they have already failed. A successful production depends on more than just your appearance.
“One million views is not the measure of success. There’s so much about YouTube that many don’t understand. Don’t let their ignorance steal your joy.”
