Nigerian singer Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, popularly known as Skales, has asserted that he played a role in inspiring his colleague Burna Boy at a point in his career.
In a recent interview with Naija FM, Lagos, Skales claimed that before featuring Burna Boy on the Temper Remix in 2017, the Port Harcourt-born artist had not yet achieved a hit song.
He mentioned that Burna Boy has also been a source of inspiration for him over the years.
He emphasized that the purpose of collaboration is to uplift and promote one another.
“I inspired Burna Boy, and he would agree with me. It’s not about anyone helping the other; we likely admire each other and choose to collaborate.”
At that time, Burna Boy didn’t have any major hit songs before I featured him on the remix of Temper. It was after our collaboration that his career began to take off.
I’m not trying to claim credit for his success, but he has been an inspiration to me over the years, and I believe I also inspired him at some point,” Skales stated.
