Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola suggested reasons for his team’s 2-1 loss to Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday.
Second-half goals by Joao Pedro and Matt O’Riley secured Brighton’s victory over City.
Erling Haaland managed to score a first-half goal for Guardiola’s side.
In his post-match interview, Guardiola emphasized that Brighton were very strong in possession and had significant speed in attack.
He noted that Manchester City players were fatigued in the second half, while Brighton’s substitutions impacted the game.
“Our players were magnificent in many ways. Brighton were really good with the ball and had a lot of pace up front,” Guardiola said.
In the first half, we played really well and were brilliant. In the second half, fatigue set in, and they made substitutions that we currently can’t make, which led to our loss.”
