Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has received a three-game suspension after being shown a red card during the match against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
He was sent off for a high tackle on James Maddison just three minutes before halftime.
As a result, Fernandes will be unavailable for next Sunday’s Premier League match against Aston Villa.
After the international break, Fernandes will be absent for the matches against Brentford and West Ham.
However, he will be eligible to play against FC Porto in the Europa League on Thursday. This was his first red card while playing for Manchester United.
He is only the fourth United captain to receive a red card in a Premier League match at Old Trafford, following Roy Keane in April 2001 (against Manchester City), Nemanja Vidic in March 2014 (against Liverpool), and Wayne Rooney in September 2014 (against West Ham).
