Former Nigerian Vice President Atiku Abubakar has outlined lessons Nigeria should take from the recently concluded US election.
According to the reporter, former President Donald Trump of the Republican Party has won the election, making him the President-elect after defeating Democratic Party candidate Kamala Harris.
In response, Atiku, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in 2023, stated that Nigeria could learn valuable lessons from this election in preparation for future elections.
Atiku stated, “The lesson for Nigeria is the importance of maintaining a process with integrity to guarantee a credible outcome.”
He expressed hope that the Trump administration would “remain committed to supporting free and fair elections in Nigeria and globally.”
Atiku also offered his “heartfelt congratulations to the people of the United States, whose strong belief in democracy and the sanctity of the vote has once again demonstrated the true power of the people’s voice to the world.”
