Tinubu Travels to Brazil for the G20 Leadership Summit

President Bola Tinubu is set to leave Nigeria on Sunday for Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to attend the 19th G20 Leaders’ Summit.

The trip, announced by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, comes at the invitation of Brazilian President and current G20 leader Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

This visit follows Tinubu’s recent trip to Saudi Arabia five days earlier. In a statement, Onanuga said: President Bola Tinubu will depart Abuja today for Brazil to participate in the G20 Leaders’ Summit being held in the South American nation.”

President Bola Tinubu will attend the G20 Leaders’ Summit at the invitation of Brazilian President and current G20 Chair, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

The summit, taking place from Monday, November 18, to Tuesday, November 19, will host leaders from the world’s 20 largest economies, along with representatives from the European Union, African Union, and key multilateral financial organizations.

Under the theme “Building a Just World and a Sustainable Planet,” the meeting will address issues such as combating hunger and poverty, reforming global governance institutions, promoting sustainable development, and advancing energy transition initiatives.

President Tinubu is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit to further Nigeria’s socio-economic reforms.

Accompanying him on the trip are the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar; Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar Maiha; Minister of Art, Tourism, Culture, and Creativity, Hannatu Musawa; Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Dr. Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi; and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.
