Retire and go Home,” Inibehe Effiong Criticizes Adeboye for his Remark That “God Saved the Naira.”

Human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong has called on Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) to step down and retire following his recent controversial remarks.

Effiong criticized Adeboye’s assertion that divine intervention prevented the exchange rate from reaching N10,000 to $1, describing the claim as absurd.

He argued that exchange rates are influenced by economic and monetary policies, as well as a country’s productivity, and not by prayers.

In a post on his X account today 16/11/24 Inibehe Effiong stated: “Pastor Enoch Adeboye should step down and retire. His controversial remarks about the state of the nation are offensive to reasonable members of society.

“It is important to know when to leave the stage gracefully. Adeboye’s defense of this ineffective and oppressive government undermines the essence of Christianity.

“Many Nigerians have stopped attending church due to the blatant hypocrisy and collusion of these religious leaders.

“Meanwhile, Tinubu has spent billions on fuel subsidies, contradicting his public declarations.”

Effiong criticized the Tinubu administration for failing to address the corruption and decay in the oil sector, stating, “We are not all naive or gullible.”

He described Pastor Adeboye’s claim that his prayers prevented the Naira from depreciating further as absurd, emphasizing that exchange rates are determined by economic and monetary policies, as well as a country’s productivity, not prayers.

“Adeboye has been praying for Nigeria and its politicians for decades, yet the situation has not improved. Either his prayers are ineffective, or God is not answering him,” Effiong remarked.

Some of the most corrupt and unscrupulous politicians in the country today count themselves as disciples and followers of Pastor Adeboye.

“He needs to look himself in the mirror.”
