The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Katsina State has emphasized the importance of passengers speaking out against reckless driving, reminding them that only the living can celebrate.
This message was delivered by the FRSC Sector Commander, Aliyu Ma’aji, during the Special Marshals and Ember Months Campaign held at the Katsina State Transport Authority (KTSTA) terminal on Friday.
He explained that the campaign focused on the 2024 Ember Months theme: “Speak Up Against Dangerous Driving: Road Traffic Crashes Kill More Passengers Than Drivers.”
Ma’aji encouraged drivers to strictly follow traffic rules and regulations.
He also reminded passengers to assert their rights by speaking out against any unruly driver during transit.
The sector commander highlighted that the FRSC had planned several activities aimed at reducing road traffic crashes (RTCs) during the festive season and beyond.
According to him, these activities include public awareness campaigns at motor parks, mosques, churches, markets, and other public locations.
Ma’aji also praised the state government for its efforts in providing a good road network across Katsina, noting that it would contribute significantly to reducing road accidents.
The State Coordinator of the Special Marshals, Peter Gyang, emphasized the importance of educating both drivers and passengers about behaviors that can lead to highway accidents.
He called on drivers to consistently obey traffic rules and regulations to help reduce road traffic accidents.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the motor park and Special Marshal, Alhaji Shattima Muhammad, expressed gratitude to the FRSC for choosing their park as a venue for the enlightenment campaign.
He encouraged drivers to take the advice provided during the campaign seriously to ensure a safe and accident-free festive season and beyond.
