Bayo Onanuga, a senior aide to President Bola Tinubu, has claimed that supporters of Mr. Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), are planning to incite chaos in Nigeria.
Onanuga alleged that the planned nationwide protests were being arranged by supporters of Peter Obi, whom he referred to as a failed presidential candidate.
He asserted that Obi should be held accountable for any crisis resulting from these actions.
In a post on his X handle on Saturday, Onanuga alleged that the organizers of the proposed protest are the same people who were incited by the imprisoned IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, to initiate the destructive ENDSARS protest in Nigeria in October 2020.
He wrote: “REVEALED: Peter Obi’s supporters are the ones planning chaos in Nigeria; Obi should be held accountable for any resulting anarchy.”
Don’t be misled: the disgruntled people planning to organize nationwide protests are supporters of Peter Obi, the unsuccessful presidential candidate of the Labour Party. He should be held accountable for any crisis that arises from this action.
The organizers of the proposed protests are the same individuals who were incited by IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu to launch the destructive ENDSARS protest in Nigeria in October 2020. ENDSARS initially began as a legitimate protest by youths against the Police Special Anti-Robbery Squad, known for its brutality. However, IPOB members, aiming to separate the Southeast region from Nigeria, infiltrated and hijacked the protest for their own purposes. Lagos still bears the scars of the damage caused by IPOB elements to this day.
Two years after the ENDSARS protests, IPOB members and easily influenced individuals joined the Labour Party in 2022 to support Peter Obi, who sympathizes with their cause.
These groups are now promoting hashtags like ‘EndBadGovernance,’ ‘Tinubu Must Go,’ and ‘Revolution2024.’ They are not true democrats but rather anarchists. They are using propaganda to incite unrest because their champion, Peter Obi, failed to win the presidency in the 2023 election. Unable to wait for the next election in 2027, they are seeking to destabilize Nigeria by orchestrating a civilian coup against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
