Murder of Enugu musician: Police Chief and Government Officials Visit Family, Identify Officer Responsible

It was gathered that on Saturday, Enugu State Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, accompanied by senior State Government officials, visited the family of Chikezie Okezie Nwamba, the renowned Ogene musician known as Igbo-Jah, who was fatally shot by a police officer on Friday night.

During the visit, CP Kanayo assured the family, relatives, friends, and the people of Enugu State that the investigation into the case would be completed promptly, with justice served accordingly.

The CP stressed that the Nigeria Police Force is a disciplined organization where officers who violate rules are held accountable to deter similar actions by others.

He expressed his condolences and empathy to all affected by the tragic and senseless killing of the musician, urging everyone to trust the police as justice is pursued in the case.

According to DSP Daniel Ndukwe, spokesperson of the Enugu Police Command, Police Inspector Ozonwanji Joseph, identified as the officer responsible for the shooting, is now in custody.

Ndukwe stated, “He will face the full extent of the law once the investigation is complete.”
