A police operative attached to Otuocha Area Command, Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State has fatally shot a young man to death in the area.

Reports indicate that the young man had a dispute with officers at a checkpoint over N100, during which one of the policemen quickly fired his weapon and killed him instantly.

A source from Aguleri in Anambra East Local Government Area, who informed our reporter with a graphic video of the young man’s body, stated that the police team involved was led by an officer named Onyebuchi.

The incident, which took place on Saturday, has caused significant unrest in the area, with youths protesting the police’s actions.

It remains unclear whether the argument that led to the youth’s death involved a demand for a N100 bribe or the collection of an unpaid balance on a previously paid bribe. However, police authorities confirmed the incident.

Responding to questions from the reporter, the spokesperson for the state police command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that the command is aware of the incident and has taken control of the situation.

He stated, “The police officer involved has been identified as Inspector Sani Suleiman.

“He has been disarmed, detained, and will face further investigation and internal disciplinary action.”
