The national leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is set to convene today, Thursday, in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
This meeting follows several pre-strike warnings given to the Federal Government by the union, due to the government’s failure to honor past agreements.
According to the report, ASUU issued a 14-day strike notice to the federal government on September 24, threatening to close universities nationwide if their long-standing issues were not resolved.
This ultimatum came after an earlier 21-day notice, given on August 18, in which the union urged the government to address their demands.
During today’s meeting, ASUU is expected to present a “State of the Nation” address.
This has created uncertainty, particularly among students, regarding the possibility of an upcoming strike.
