Nigerian singer Jaywon revealed that he’s not on good terms with fellow artist Ayra Starr. The fallout occurred after trolls started using a viral photo of the two to mock him.
In the photo, Ayra Starr appears to hold Jaywon’s hand, seemingly stopping him from putting his hand on her waist.
In a recent interview with News Central, Jaywon expressed his disappointment with Ayra Starr and her team for not addressing the online trolls.
“The situation with Ayra Starr is unfortunate; we’re not on good terms. People don’t understand. Why would I, Jaywon, want a picture with Ayra Starr?
“Of course, she’s an incredible artist who makes Nigerians proud. It was all about showing love—I just wanted to support and celebrate her for the great work she’s doing.”
People also support and celebrate me, so when I see a young artist succeeding, I want to be part of that celebration.
“We took a picture, and it went viral. Neither you nor your team addressed it. All your management did was promote the picture repeatedly. No one is naive.
“We understand how the music industry operates. People are saying she stayed silent about the photo. Of course, she didn’t comment on it, but she saw it trending daily. Why wouldn’t she speak up?”
That’s just how they operate. I don’t blame them; they think that if they speak up, it might stop the picture from trending. They’re enjoying the attention. It’s fine—everyone has their moment,” he said.
