On Saturday, Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun ordered a thorough investigation into the conflict between officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Nigeria Police Force in Osogbo, Osun State.
The directive followed a viral video showing a public confrontation between officers from the two security agencies.
Earlier, a report reported that clashes took place between police and NSCDC personnel on Tuesday and Wednesday at Elizabeth Estate in Osogbo.
The Osun State Police Command later arrested and detained the NSCDC personnel involved in the incident.
In response, the IGP, expressing dissatisfaction with the unprofessional conduct and public display of division, directed the Assistant Inspector-General of Police for Zone 11, Osogbo, to conduct a thorough investigation into the underlying cause of the issue.
The order was contained in a statement released on Saturday by Force Public Relations Officer Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
He stated that the IGP urged calm, assuring that under his leadership, the Nigeria Police Force would continue to collaborate with other security agencies to ensure a safe and secure environment for Nigeria.
