Former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha has called on the Federal Government to honor the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah by releasing Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Okorocha made this plea during a tribute night held in Ubah’s honor on Monday in Abuja, stating that deceased Igbo leaders are deliberating on Kanu’s release.
Addressing government officials in attendance, Rochas Okorocha urged Senate President Godswill Akpabio to relay the message to the Federal Government.
He noted that Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who passed away in London on July 27, will be buried on November 22.
Okorocha said, “Senator Akpabio, my brother in whom I am well pleased, convey this message to the Federal Government on behalf of the Igbos here. The best way to honor Ifeanyi Ubah is to release Nnamdi Kanu, allowing the Igbos to return home and rebuild. Even if you are hesitant, send this message for the sake of your wife, who is our daughter. Deliver this message and get results, or else we may have to remind your wife of her roots.”
“I’ve never died before, and I don’t plan to die anytime soon, but I believe that leaders like Ikemba Ojukwu, Ekwueme, and other great figures who have passed on are holding a meeting somewhere, as the spirit never dies,” he said.
