President Bola Tinubu has urged dissatisfied Nigerians, particularly the youth planning a national protest due to the high cost of living, to reconsider and cancel their planned demonstration, stating it is unnecessary.
The President also assured those organizing the planned national protest that he is aware of their grievances and is actively working to address their concerns.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, communicated the President’s appeal while speaking with State House correspondents after his meeting with Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The Minister stated that during the meeting with the President, they discussed general issues concerning the country, and the President emphasized his diligent efforts to improve the country’s economic situation.
He stated, “We discussed the overall situation of the country, and Mr. President asked me to once again inform Nigerians, particularly the young people planning to protest, that he is listening to them.
“Mr. President said he takes their concerns seriously and is working diligently to ensure the country’s well-being not just for today but also for the future.
“Regarding the planned protest, Mr. President sees no need for it and has requested that they cancel it and await the government’s response to their grievances. He has heard them.”
