It was a tragic Saturday in Ondo state as suspected gunmen shot and killed two passengers and abducted five others, including a female corps member.
Sources stated that fifteen suspected gunmen abducted the victims along the Ifon/Owo Expressway in the Ose Local Council area of the state.
Two additional passengers allegedly fled after suffering gunshot wounds of varying severity.
The attackers, armed with AK-47 rifles, ambushed commuters around 11 pm on Friday at Omi Alafa Village in the Ifon community.
They reportedly fired indiscriminately at a Sienna bus.
Eyewitnesses immediately informed police detectives in Ifon about the attack.
According to report, the commercial vehicle was traveling from Anambra State with passengers bound for Owo and Akure, the state capital, when the incident took place.
A police source stated that the bodies of the deceased passengers have been placed in the morgue of a private hospital in Ifon.
When contacted, police spokesperson Funmi Odunlami verified the unfortunate incident.
