God and Destiny Will Decide Atiku’s Fate In 2027 – Says Momodu

As the 2027 general elections approach, former presidential candidate Dele Momodu stated that only God and destiny will decide Atiku Abubakar’s future in politics.

Atiku, 77, has attempted to become President of Nigeria six times— in 1993, 2007, 2011, 2015, 2019, and 2023. He participated in the Social Democratic Party presidential primaries in 1993 but lost to Moshood Abiola and Baba Gana Kingibe.

Concerns have arisen regarding the former vice president’s health and physical fitness, as there are fears he may seek to run again in 2027 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

While speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Yesterday, Momodu remarked that age should not be a key factor in determining who holds political office.

He questioned the effectiveness of younger politicians, asking, “What impact have these younger individuals had in their states with the resources available to them?”

“Age should not automatically qualify or disqualify someone in politics. Who would have anticipated Joe Biden succeeding Obama? Ultimately, it’s up to God and destiny. I consider myself a child of destiny, which brings me contentment.”

If Alhaji Atiku chooses to run, good luck to him. If he decides not to run, that’s fine too. But why are people trying to silence him? What are they afraid of?” he asked.

When questioned whether Atiku would be a threat to President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign in 2027, the PDP chieftain did not give a direct answer. Instead, he stated, “I’m sure there are those who think so. I know some believe he is the only viable candidate at this moment. He could pose a threat if he manages to rally a significant political party behind him.”

Momodu pointed out that Muhammadu Buhari was chosen as the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate in 2015 because many believed he was the only person capable of uniting the north.

Momodu’s remarks followed a day after former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose urged Atiku to abandon his presidential ambitions due to his age.
