Four Federal Lawmakers From the Labour Party Have Defected to the APC

The Labour Party caucus in the House of Representatives has experienced a significant wave of defections, with four members switching allegiance to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The defecting lawmakers, representing constituencies in Kaduna, Imo, Edo, and Cross River states, announced their decision on the House floor today 5/12/24.

Speaker Abbas Tajudeen formally disclosed the defections during the session.

The lawmakers who defected are Chinedu Okere (representing Owerri Municipal/Owerri North/Owerri West Constituency), Mathew Donatus (Kaura Federal Constituency, Kaduna), Akiba Bassey (Calabar Municipal/Odukpani Constituency, Cross River), and Esosa Iyawe (Oredo Federal Constituency, Edo).
