Former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello has met his Bail Conditions and has Been Released From Kuje Prison

Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi State, has been released from the Kuje Custodial Centre after fulfilling the bail conditions imposed by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Maitama, Abuja.

The confirmation of his release came from Adamu Duza, the spokesperson for the FCT Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).

According to Adamu Duza, Yahaya Bello was released in the evening after meeting his bail conditions. The Controller of the NCoS FCT, Ajibogun Olatubosun, was present to oversee the process and ensure all protocols were followed.”

On Thursday, Justice MaryAnne Anenih granted the former governor bail set at ₦500 million. The conditions included the provision of three sureties, each owning property in prime areas of Abuja, such as Maitama, Guzape, or Asokoro.

The judge also directed Yahaya Bello to surrender his passport and prohibited him from traveling outside Nigeria without prior approval.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had charged Bello, along with Shuaibu Oricha and Abdulsalam Hudu, on a 16-count indictment, including conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, and unlawful possession of property.

All three defendants denied the allegations, pleading not guilty.
