Edo Police Recover 14-Month-old Baby who was kidnapped

The Edo State Police Command has announced the rescue of 14-month-old Grace Osamagbe, who was kidnapped by her nanny, Rejoice Chukwu, in April.

The state’s Commissioner of Police, Umoru Ozigi, shared the news with reporters today 16/11/24 in Benin, the state capital.

Ozigi stated that the Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber Crime Unit apprehended 24-year-old Rejoice Chukwu and her boyfriend, Destiny Uchechukwu, in Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State.

According to the police commissioner, the suspects kidnapped the child in Benin and demanded a ransom of N160,000.

Despite receiving the ransom, they allegedly sold the baby for N500,000 to Doris Chiwendu in Owerri, Imo State.

After thorough interrogation, the police traced Doris Chiwendu and another suspect, Jane Amaigbo, to Ubomiri, Imo State, where they rescued the baby on November 9, he added.

He also stated that the suspects would soon be taken to court.
