On Saturday, Edo Deputy Governor Philips Shaibu officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Shaibu, along with other members of the PDP legacy coalition group, declared his defection in Benin during the inauguration of the National Campaign Council for the September 21 Governorship election in the state.

Dr. Umar Ganduje, the National Chairman of the APC, along with other members of the National Working Committee (NWC), welcomed the deputy governor, stating that they have joined to add value to the party.

It is time to reclaim our state. We won’t say much because our actions will speak for us. We are not afraid and are ready to move forward.

“We, the homebody, are prepared to reclaim our state through the APC governorship candidate, Monday Okpebholo, and his running mate, Dennis Idahosa.”

We are not troublemakers, but if trouble comes, we will solve it and move on.

Philips Shaibu also took the opportunity to publicly kneel before his estranged political mentor, Sen. Adams Oshiomhole, an action that received applause from the audience.
