DSS Dismisses Chief Security Officer of President Tinubu

The Department of State Services (DSS) has removed Adegboyega Fasasi from his role as Chief Security Officer (CSO) to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The development came after Fasasi has been replaced by Rasheed Atanda Lawal, a Deputy Director.

As of Sunday evening, the reasons behind Fasasi’s removal were still unclear.

However, Sources familiar with the situation revealed that the Director-General of the DSS, Tosin Ajayi, had requested President Tinubu’s approval for Fasasi to step down as CSO in order to attend a strategic training program.

“The perspective we should consider is that such changes, like this ‘change of guards,’ often occur when a new DSS Director-General is appointed. Since the DSS operates in secrecy and focuses on intelligence, the new DG usually prefers to place trusted personnel in key positions, with the Presidency and the CSO role being top priorities,” a source told The Nation.

As of now, the Presidency has not yet responded to the development.
