A man known as Nathaniel was reportedly shot by suspected kidnappers after Nigerian police officers foiled an attempt to abduct him in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Reporters gathered that the incident occurred at El-Rufai Estate in the Bwari Local Government Area of the Territory around 2 a.m. on Wednesday.
The kidnappers reportedly tried to abduct several residents, but operatives of the FCT police command thwarted their plan in a fierce gunfight that lasted about 30 minutes.
The FCT police command spokesperson Josephine Adeh who confirmed the incident to reporters on Wednesday, stated that many of the gunmen escaped with bullet wounds.
She urged the general public to report anyone spotted with a bullet wound to the police.
We received a distress call and quickly deployed operatives who engaged the criminals in a gunfight, causing multiple of them to flee with bullet wounds.”
“We are tracking the kidnappers, so we urge the public to report anyone with a bullet wound to the police,” she stated.
