Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe of Abia South has declared his readiness to serve as a guarantor for Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Abaribe urged Tinubu to release Nnamdi Kanu, stating that it would help resolve the issue of criminal activities in the Southeast.
He said, “I expect the President to heed the advice of his Attorney General and others of us advocating for this.
The challenges in the Southeast, including insurgency, the Monday sit-at-home orders, and other issues, have escalated.
Criminals and violent elements have taken advantage of the situation, using Nnamdi Kanu’s name to justify their reprehensible actions.”
We believe that the President, as a responsive leader, will carefully consider the issues we have presented to him through various channels.
We are confident he will take the necessary steps to release Nnamdi Kanu, which will help end the ongoing challenges in the Southeast and restore the region as a key production hub in Nigeria.
He emphasized the need for Nnamdi Kanu’s release to address the challenges hindering the Southeast’s productivity.
He stated, “We urge President Tinubu to release Nnamdi Kanu, and we are prepared to act as guarantors for his release.
This will help restore normalcy in the Southeast, reclaim it from criminals, kidnappers, cultists, and other dangerous elements who exploit Nnamdi Kanu’s name to justify their violent and criminal acts.”
