On Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at least five armed men stormed a medical clinic and kidnapped Dr. Donatus Nwasor, a prominent physician, near his facility in Utagba-Uno, Ndokwa West Local Government Area of the state.

The abduction occurred around 8:15 pm as Dr. Nwasor was wrapping up his day and preparing to leave. According to an anonymous source, the doctor had just entered his car and started the engine when he received a phone call.

As Dr. Nwasor stepped out of his vehicle to answer the call, gunmen suddenly emerged from a nearby bush and attacked him. They overpowered him, forced him back into his car, and drove away. According to the source, one of the kidnappers dropped a sandal at the scene as they fled in the direction of Ugiliamai and Iselegu.

Shortly afterward, a resident traveling near Iselegu Junction spotted Dr. Nwasor’s car abandoned along the expressway. An anti-cult group from Utagba-Uno, led by Ugobueze, was alerted and dispatched to confirm the vehicle’s identity. By 9:10 pm, the group verified that the car, found with its doors left wide open, belonged to the abducted doctor.

Despite continued efforts to locate Dr. Nwasor, the search only uncovered a trail heading toward Obi-Ukpo in Onicha-Ukwuani, with no trace of the doctor himself. The police and Dr. Nwasor’s family were immediately notified of the kidnapping. On Wednesday, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident.
