Angry Patients and Their Families Protest Power Outage at UCH

Some patients and their families are protesting the lack of water and electricity at the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The frustrated protesters complained that the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) had cut off UCH’s power for 17 days.

The disconnection has reportedly impacted essential hospital operations, causing delays in test results, surgeries, and other services.

In response, the hospital management explained that UCH is classified under the “Band A” electricity tariff, obliging them to pay N80 million per month.

In a trending video shared by a reporter, some patients were heard saying: “UCH don’t kill us, we want light. You people want to destroy the prestige of UCH, it’s a top hospital.”
