Aiyedatiwa Expresses Gratitude to Tinubu and INEC After Being Presented With the Certificate of Return

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued Certificates of Return to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and his deputy, Adelami Olayide, following their success in the Ondo governorship election.

The certificates were handed over by INEC’s National Commissioner for Ondo, Prof. Kunle Ajayi, during a ceremony at the INEC headquarters in Abuja today 20/11/24.

Ajayi lauded the people of Ondo for their peaceful behavior throughout the election, highlighting the absence of significant incidents of violence.

He also commended the professionalism of security agencies, election observers, and media organizations for their contributions to the smooth conduct of the polls.

Governor-elect Lucky Aiyedatiwa, upon receiving his Certificate of Return, expressed gratitude to INEC for organizing a “free, fair, and credible election” that secured his victory.

He also praised President Bola Tinubu for ensuring a level playing field during the election, noting that Tinubu showed no favoritism toward any candidate.

Aiyedatiwa emerged victorious with 366,781 votes, defeating his closest contender, Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party, who garnered 117,845 votes. He achieved a clean sweep, winning in all 18 local government areas of the state.

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Umar Ganduje, hailed the election results as a triumph not just for the people of Ondo and the APC but also for Nigeria and Africa as a whole.

He emphasized that this signalled that democracy has come to stay in Africa, and the APC was committed to ensuring that democracy is always fair, free, and decent.
