A ransom of fifty million Naira has been demanded for one of the eight remaining NYSC members abducted in Zamfara State.
Bassey Daniel, a native of Akwa Ibom State, was kidnapped in Zamfara along with seven other people.
Mrs. Margaret Daniel, the victim’s mother and a petty trader, revealed this information during an interview with a reporter in her community of Afaha Ube Itam, located in Itu local government area, on Thursday.
The Mother of the victim Mrs Margaret could not hold back the tears and lamented that She had no one who could raise such a huge amount of money the Zamfara kidnappers were demanding.
She lamented, saying “I am just a petty trader, I sell Akara and Bread. How am I going to raise that kind of money? I am helpless and in fact, when that amount of money was mentioned I fell sick. And l have been asking God why my only son?
Nine people were kidnapped that day in Zamfara; eight have regained their, but my son remains captive. The kidnappers are demanding #50 million, which I cannot afford. His father passed away a long time ago when Bassey was just three years old.
“I raised him and put him in school on my own. I used the little money from my akara business to fund his education, from primary school to secondary school, and then to Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic.”
I have asked God why did this happened to me. I suffered so much. And I am appealing to Akwa Ibom State governor, Pastor Umo Eno, the NYSC officials and security agencies to help bring my only son back to me. “
Mr. Imoh another family expressed gratitude towards the security agencies and the NYSC management for their efforts in securing the release of the children. He also appealed for further assistance in the case of Solomon Bassey Daniel.
