Adeleke has Approved Adesuyi Haastrup as the new Owa Obokun of Ijesaland

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun has given his approval for Prince Adesuyi Haastrup to be appointed as the new Owa Obokun of Ijesaland.

In a statement released on Friday in Osogbo by Kolapo Alimi, the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, it was revealed that the appointment was made during the State Executive Council meeting.

Alimi also announced that Prince Johnson Abikoye was approved as the new Asaoni of Ora Igbomina.

The commissioner further noted that the governor extended his congratulations to the newly appointed traditional rulers, emphasizing that the appointments followed the proper procedures.

“The selection processes for the new rulers comply with the Chiefs’ Law of Osun State 2002 (Cap 25).

“All citizens of the two towns are urged to support their new traditional leaders and foster peace and unity,” he added.

According to the reporter, Haastrup’s appointment as the new Owa-elect follows the passing of Oba Adekunle Aromolaran on September 11.

The reporter also reported that Abikoye’s appointment as the new Asaoni of Ora Igbomina comes after the death of Oba Tinuoye Atolagbe on November 19, 2023.
