A Dubai-based Nigerian man, Obaze Chikezie Idenyi, was brutally murdered and dismembered by a suspected gang of ritual killers in Ebonyi State. His wife, Blessing, and his brother, Kenneth Chiabuotu Odanwu, revealed that the attackers came from Mgbo, Iziangbo, and Izzi Local Government Areas.

Idenyi, a former naval officer, had returned to Nigeria in April 2023 to marry Blessing after a decade-long relationship and had planned to go back to Dubai once she finished her youth service.

The tragic event occurred in March 2024 when Idenyi was introduced to a group by two acquaintances from his community, known as Chief and Elechi, who were later identified as Innocent Ajim Elebe and a local native doctor.

The individuals, referred to as Chief and Elechi, were later identified as Innocent Ajim Elebe and a local native doctor. Over time, Idenyi’s behavior and financial habits changed drastically. He began leaving home at unusual hours and making large withdrawals from his wife’s account.

The couple’s relationship became tense as Blessing grew suspicious of his activities and his connection with the group. On Saturday, September 14, 2024, Idenyi left home for what he claimed was a business trip to Lagos, but he never returned.

Despite her efforts to contact him, Blessing could not reach him and became increasingly worried.

The family launched an urgent search for Idenyi, which included spiritual consultations and hiring a tracker to monitor his phone activity. A message sent from his phone to his brother raised more concern, claiming he was being held hostage in Lagos.

The family reported the incident to the police, leading to the arrest of Elechi and Chief. During questioning, the suspects admitted to murdering Idenyi and disposing of his dismembered body in a remote area of Ebonyi State.

The police have also apprehended Obinna Nwanguru and Oda Peter, who were reportedly connected to the brutal act. The suspects admitted to killing Idenyi, Chibu Odii, and Eze Fabian for ritual purposes.

The Ebonyi State Police Command has confirmed the incident and announced that efforts are ongoing to locate the remains of the third victim.
