Panic erupted on Thursday morning in Benin, the capital of Edo State, when a vehicle powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) exploded at the NIPCO filling station on the Benin-Auchi Expressway.
In a circulating video, the vehicle appeared wrecked as people fled for their lives, with the loud explosion causing fear among nearby residents.
Reports indicate that three individuals suffered varying injuries and have been taken to a private hospital for treatment.
The incident follows growing safety concerns about converting petrol-powered vehicles to CNG, a move promoted by the Federal Government to reduce transportation costs after the removal of fuel subsidies.
