Former President Donald Trump issued a statement after a shooting at his campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, which resulted in one death and left another person seriously injured.
Trump sustained a minor injury during the incident.
Trump expressed his gratitude to the United States Secret Service and all law enforcement agencies for their swift response to the shooting that took place in Butler, Pennsylvania, according to a statement seen by a reporter online on Sunday.
He extended his condolences to the families of the victims, saying, “Most importantly, I want to express my deepest sympathy to the family of the person who was killed at the rally, and also to the family of another person who was seriously injured.”
The incident happened when Trump started his final rally before the Republican Party convention. Witnesses reported hearing a series of loud bangs resembling gunshots, which caused disorder at the event.
John Yeykal, an attendee from Franklin, Pennsylvania, explained the scene, saying, “We saw many people fall down, looking bewildered. I heard the shots; it sounded like a mix of firecrackers and a small-caliber handgun.”
