A well-known American rapper Jeffery Williams, known as Young Thug, has been freed from prison after spending two years in custody.
Young Thug was released on Thursday after agreeing to a plea deal in his long-running racketeering case.
Young Thug was alleged to be one of the three founders of YSL (“Young Slime Life”) and faced two primary charges: conspiracy to violate the RICO Act and involvement in street gang activities.
On Thursday, the rapper entered a no-contest plea to the RICO and gang leader charges and admitted guilt to the remaining charges, which included two firearm charges and three drug charges.
Following his plea, the judge sentenced him on multiple counts, imposing a 15-year probation term, which, if successfully completed, could reduce his time served.
Young Thug is also required to give anti-gang presentations to children four times a year and complete 100 hours of community service each year.
Initially, prosecutors had recommended a 45-year sentence, with 25 years in prison and 20 years on probation. However, Georgia Superior Court Judge Paige Whitaker reduced the sentence.
