Social media activist Reno Omokri has faced criticism from the Nigeria Youths Frontiers and Peace Advocates (NYFPA) over his recent comments about Pastor Becky Enenche of Dunamis International Gospel Centre.
Omokri described Pastor Enenche as a “Yahoo girl on the altar” in response to her remarks emphasizing the importance of tithing, sparking widespread backlash among Christians.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Omokri stated, “Becky Enenche lied. Not paying your tithe does not mean you go back to square one. She, her husband, and others like them have turned the faith given to us by Yeshua (Jesus) into a scam.”
They are con artists on the altar, exploiting religion for financial gain rather than promoting spiritual growth and moral integrity. Their approach has tarnished the reputation of Christianity in Nigeria.
In a firm statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Samuel Geofrey, the NYFPA condemned Omokri’s comments as “provocative, unfounded, and highly reckless.”
The group stated, “Reno Omokri’s remarks insult millions of Nigerians who hold their faith and spiritual leaders in high regard.
His language shows a severe disregard for Christianity and the values of respectful dialogue and mutual understanding in a civilized society.”
The incident adds to the growing list of controversies surrounding Omokri, who has often faced criticism for his polarising commentary on religious and political matters.
