Police Have Reportedly Summoned Nollywood Actress Tonto Dikeh Over Allegations of Cyberbullying

On Friday, the Nigeria Police Force summoned Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh to its headquarters in Abuja as part of an investigation into allegations of criminal defamation, cyberbullying, and forgery, among other charges.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, stated that the invitation was issued under the direction of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Monitoring Unit.

The invitation letter, dated August 5, 2024, and signed by DCP A.A. Elleman, the Head of the IGP Monitoring Unit, disclosed that Tonto Dikeh’s name is a key part of an ongoing investigation by the unit.

The letter stated that the office is probing a case involving criminal defamation, forgery, falsehood, cyberbullying, and criminal conversion, in which Tonto Dikeh and others are prominently mentioned.

The invitation stated that the office is investigating a case involving criminal defamation, forgery, falsehood, cyberbullying, and criminal conversion reported to the Inspector-General of Police, in which Tonto Dikeh and others are prominently involved.

In light of this, she has been requested to attend an interview with SP Aminu Abdullahi Sokoto on August 7, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. to provide further details on the allegations.

Her cooperation in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

The Force PRO verified that Tonto Dikeh was summoned due to a petition filed against her and later released while the investigation continues.

Adejobi stated, “She was invited solely to respond to a petition filed against her, and she has since left the unit while the investigation remains ongoing.”
